Supporting the reconstruction of Shuri Castle
2019.11.22
On October 31, 2019, a large-scale fire that occurred inside the world heritage site Shuri Castle destroyed the main buildings of the castle, that is to say the Seiden, Hokuden and Nanden etc.
As Shurijo Castle was a political and economic center during the Ryukyu Kingdom era, it is a facility popular not only with Okinawans but also with tourists. Today, many people are in pain following the castle’s destruction. Especially for karate enthusiasts, Shuri Castle is the cradle and symbol of karate. We therefore must overcome the disappearance of Shuri Castle in memory of past masters, for the present and the future.
In light of this situation, the Shinkokai has decided to raise funds for the reconstruction of Shuri Castle, as part of karate world’s efforts to rebuild it as soon as possible.
The collected funds will be presented to Okinawa Prefecture in full so that they can be used to rebuild Shuri Castle.
We ask for your understanding regarding this request of cooperation and support.
